INTRODUCTION

An economic marketplace which provides consumers with products, services, places, and ideas related to sports, fitness, and leisure is well known as the sports industry. It includes three organizational sectors: public, nonprofit, and commercial. Furthermore, sports business as a part of the sports industry can be defined as any sector that managing or facilitating sports which includes sponsorship, broadcasting, and athlete management.

 

Nowadays, sports have become a part of vital needs of the well-being for everyone. Participating in sports and physical activity has numerous health benefits, including improving cardiovascular health, increasing muscle strength and flexibility, and reducing the risk of obesity and chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, et cetera. By providing opportunities for people to engage in physical activity, the sports industry helps to promote overall health and well-being.

 

In addition to promoting health, the sports industry also has a significant economic impact. The sports industry generates billions of dollars in revenue each year through ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorships, and other sources. This revenue helps to support the creation and maintenance of sports facilities, as well as the salaries of athletes, coaches, and other industry professionals.

 

Overall, the sports industry plays a vital role in both promoting health and strengthening the economy. By providing opportunities for people to engage in physical activity and generating significant economic activity, the sports industry helps to improve the overall quality of life for individuals and communities.

 

To gain the knowledge about sports industry as a platform to promote health and strengthen the economy especially on the sports and health science, Faculty of Sports Science Universitas Negeri Semarang, hold an International Conference named “International Conference on Physical Education, Health, and Sports” also known as ICOPHS. The former name of ICOPHS is ISMINA which stands for International Conference on Sports, Health, and Physical Education. ISMINA were held in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2017, 2021 and 2023.

 

The specific purposes of ICOPHS are providing a platform for researchers, educators, students, practitioners, and anyone with a common interest or background to meet one another, to learn about and discuss issues, ideas and work that focus on sports science, health science, sports industry, sports performance, and physical education.
