UNNES Hosts International Seminar on Public Health and Education (ISPHE) to Address Post-Pandemic Recovery
Semarang, 29 June 2022 — The Faculty of Sports Science, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), successfully organized the International Seminar on Public Health and Education (ISPHE) in collaboration with the ASEAN Council of Physical Education and Sport (ACPES), the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE), and national partners including the Indonesian National Network for Health Education (JNPK), the Indonesian Public Health Experts Association (IAKMI), as well as several leading universities such as Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, and Universitas Negeri Manado.
Carried out under the central theme “Active, Healthy, Productive, and Sustainable Communities through Post-Pandemic Recovery”, ISPHE 2022 provided a global academic platform to share the latest research, innovations, and best practices in strengthening public health and physical education systems in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Background and Significance
The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted public health, education, and economies worldwide. This unprecedented crisis underscored the urgency for resilience and adaptability in health systems and educational practices. ISPHE 2022 was designed to facilitate cross-border discussions on how academia, researchers, and practitioners can contribute to recovery efforts, enhance international collaboration, and develop sustainable strategies to address evolving global health challenges.

Conference Highlights
Held fully online via Zoom Cloud Meeting and streamed live on YouTube, ISPHE 2022 attracted a diverse audience of public participants and UNNES academic community members. Keynote presentations and panel discussions explored critical themes such as health system resilience, post-pandemic recovery strategies for physical education, the integration of adapted physical activity into inclusive health programs, and the role of communities in sustaining healthy lifestyles.
The keynote address by Prof. Michael Rosenberg emphasized the importance of evidence-based strategies in preparing for future health crises, drawing on lessons from global pandemic responses. Speakers also highlighted the need for integrating mental and physical well-being in educational settings to promote holistic recovery.
