UNNES Faculty of Medicine Hosts International Conference on Strengthening Health Systems through Digital Transformation

Semarang, 26 October 2024 — The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), successfully held the International Conference on Health Sciences, Practice, and Education at Noormans Hotel, Semarang. The conference carried the theme “Strengthening Health Systems through Digital Transformation to Improve Quality of Health Services”, addressing global health challenges and the rapid advancement of digital health technologies.

Keynote session by Prof. dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti 

The event served as a strategic platform for academics, researchers, and health practitioners from various countries to share insights, exchange ideas, and explore innovative approaches to reinforcing health systems. The initiative stems from the recognition that health is both the foundation and an indicator of sustainable development. Digital transformation is viewed as a key driver in expanding access to healthcare services, improving efficiency, and reducing health disparities.

The conference featured seven distinguished speakers from leading international institutions:

Keynote Speaker: 

Prof. dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti, M.Sc., Ph.D., AAK – President Director, Indonesia Social Security Administering Body for Health.

Invited Speakers:

  1. Syarifah Liza Munira, Ph.D – Head, Health Development Policy Agency, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.

  2. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ng Yih Yng – Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, WHO Collaborating Centre for Digital Health & Health Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

  3. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tawatchai Apidechkul – Mae Fah Luang University, Thailand.

  4. Prof. Dr. Shabbir Syed Abdul, M.D., M.Sc., Ph.D. – Graduate Institute of Biomedical Informatics, Taipei Medical University, Taiwan.

  5. Zinzi Pardoel, Ph.D. – Researcher, Applied Health Research, University Medical Center Groningen, University of Groningen, the Netherlands.

  6. Asst. Prof. RR. Sri Ratna Rahayu, M.D., Ph.D. – Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia.

Held in an hybrid format, the event attracted participants from the general public as well as UNNES academic community members. The discussions were highly interactive, with participants engaging the speakers on a wide range of topics, including telemedicine, integrated health data systems, and the use of artificial intelligence to support clinical decision-making.

Through this forum, the Faculty of Medicine at UNNES aims to expand international academic and research collaborations, while providing meaningful global exposure for the advancement of health sciences in Indonesia.
